What will the ER do?

I’m 19 weeks and started spotting today. We had intercourse this morning. I Called the on call OB and told them, they told me to get to the hospital that they called ahead and let the hospital know we are coming... we got here at 215 and it’s now 305 and we are still sitting in the waiting room. Does anyone know what they will do when we are called back? Like maybe an ultrasound to check the baby and hear the heart beat? I’m freaking out

Spotting after sex is normal! And yes they will just make sure baby is okay / look for heartbeat. Stay calm!

Spotting after sex is completely normal. Unless you are bleeding heavily or having major cramping or are high risk they shouldn't have told you to go to the hospital. They will hook you up the the heartrate monitor and make sure you arent dilating.

They probably won’t do a whole lot. They are a ER and don’t specialize in the area. Probably a waste of time honestly. Spotting is pretty common after sex. Your cervix is very sensitive when pregnant.

Take an ultrasound, check for dilation & put you on the monitor to check for a consistent fetal heartbeat & contractions. 
They will let you know though that is something actually is wrong there is nothing they’ll be able to do. Unfortunately ER’s and sometimes L&D don’t prioritize the care of those under 24 weeks.

I had the same problems except I didn't have sex. But when I got there they took me back right away put a iv in and took blood. Then did a ultrasound to see if baby was okay and if my cervix was closed. They told me I had placenta previa and that's why I was bleeding.

They came in and said they will check for any type of infection in my urine and do a pelvic exam and check for heart beat. I guess they won’t do ultrasound unless there is a problem with finding the heart beat
