I’m 18 weeks pregnant and my son weighs 34 pounds. I’m just wondering if it’s ok to god carry him if I’m able to or if I should take it easy so I don’t hurt myself. He is a mamas boy and loves me to hold him. I hate saying no him.

I do home health and was told if I’m used to it and lifting correctly then I can continue to lift both my clients who weight 130+ pounds each. Talk to your dr but it shouldn’t be a problem

My 2 year old is 45 lbs. I pick him up every single day multiple times a day. I mean who else is going to pick up your child? Even just regular everyday things like picking up to put in his car seat or when he gets a boo boo and is crying. I never understand this question, partially because I don’t get how a parent can go an entire pregnancy without picking up their own young child.

Its unrealistically not ever carry your other child around. Just listen to your body and be careful.

It’s fine unless your doctor has you on a restriction for lifting. I constantly lift my niece and she is about 32 pounds and it’s been fine so far I’m 16 weeks almost. If it hurts you in any way then stop, but otherwise you can just fine

Read your body. If it's making you hurt or feel uncomfortable, have someone else hold him or make him walk. Otherwise, it's fine.

My OB has me on a weight restriction. I’m not supposed to lift more than 20# (idk y he hasn’t explained yet. Probably a SCH) and my daughter weighs 21#. I lift her anyway. 😓😔

I asked my doctor about this exact thing and he said for sure it would be fine to pick him up as usual through 24 weeks and after that we’d see!

I have a child who is bound to a wheelchair. I lifted him my entire pregnancy, and will this one as well. Proper lifting techniques are important, especially in those last weeks.

I’m almost 31wks pregnant with twins and occasionally still pick up/carry my 3yr old if I need to. Just listen to your body and always use proper body mechanics

Even if I get a lifting restriction this pregnancy I don’t have a choice but to lift my daughter. She’s 14.5 lbs (6 months) doesn’t walk to talk or crawl yet. I had a 10lb limit with her pregnancy.
