First Appointments!

I’ve been seeing a lot of post saying that they are 5-6 weeks pregnant, and are going to the doctors already. But, when I called my doctor, they said they wanted to see me at 8 weeks but of course the holidays are around the corner, so when I actually see them, I will be 9weeks and 5days (January 9th). So do they want to see me at 8 weeks because it’s my first pregnancy, or is every doctor different?
