Can I request a cervical check at my 38 week appointment?

I know all midwives differ but I just wondered if I asked my midwife, would she check my cervix?

I’m 38 weeks and have my 38 week appointment on Friday and for the last two weeks I have had tell tale signs of false labour, but nothing that makes me think I will be birthing my baby any time soon.

I’m unsure of the state of my cervix as I’ve never had it checked, I have tried to check myself but all I know is that it’s very high, so another tell tale sign baby is still comfy in there. I’ve been using evening primrose oil capsules 2000mg orally and inserting 1000mg vaginally for three days but obviously I’m unsure on the progression as I don’t know what my cervix was like before, and if it’s changed.

How likely is my midwife going to accept my request of a check? I know baby will come when he’s ready and I’m not trying to rush him out of there, I’m just curious. Thanks!
