Where should newborn sleep??

My mom has been telling me that when my son is here he cannot sleep in the bed with me because it’s unsafe & due to SIDS, but do newborns want to be in a crib that young?? Idk. This is my first time doing this I thought babies could sleep with their mothers?

Bassinet. I would never put my newborn in bed with us, it is so unsafe and anyone that says otherwise has very bad information. Baby’s need a firmer surface and no blankets or pillows around that can smother them.

Only something approved for safe sleep which is a pack and play (not the hang out area the actual rectangle part), a bassinet, or a crib with NOTHING in it. No blankets, pillows, sheets, devices, stuffed animals, etc. A pacifier is allowed. ABCs- alone, back, crib.

Bed sharing is completely safe if done properly and preferably in a king size bed. We used a dock a tot in the middle of our bed u til our son was 3 months old and then we just let him sleep on the bed after that. He’s also a tummy sleeper. We’ll be doing the same with our daughter... SIDS is directly linked to vaccines. Haters can hate, but it’s even on the inserts themselves and deaths align with the timing of shots so 🤷🏼‍♀️ Take it or leave it.

Please don't put a newborn in your bed. There's a reason so many doctors and studies have advised against this. Adult beds are too soft, have lose blankets that can suffocate the infant as well as the possibility of someone rolling over on them. Use a bassinet or the crib. If you swaddle the baby they likely won't have any problem being in a crib

If you want to co-sleep there are guides online with how to do so safely. Alternatively you can look at co-sleeper crib or a Moses basket (both are smaller than a cot and so baby may feel more comfortable)

Bassinet that can because literally right against bed or propped over like the Halo is what I used. 
I do bedshare with my 16 month old, but I would never had with a newborn. I didn't start until she could roll over both ways on her own.

I didn’t sleep with my some until I felt he was big enough to move away if he felt we were getting to close to him (about 5-6 months of age). Prior to that I had him sleeping in his bassinet right next to my bed. I moved him to his own room and his own crib when he was 4 months old... he still occasionally came to my bed when he was having a roughy night.
