I watched a news story on a surrogate who was well into her second trimester. She was carrying this couples baby and they were at the point of already knowing the gender and being able to feel kicks. I believe it was the anatomy scan where they found out the baby had some heart problems and other complications. They gave her a 25% chance at a normal life. The couple asked the surrogate to abort the baby. The surrogate for obvious reasons didn’t feel comfortable with that. She decided to relocate to Michigan where she had some sort of legal protection. She went through with the pregnancy but im not exactly sure what happened with the baby or the extent of her health problems. Do you think the surrogate had the right to do this? Should she be in legal trouble for disregarding the wishes of this babies biological parents? Personally i understand both sides because i could never abort a baby that far along but at the same time the surrogate is getting payed to carry someone else’s baby and chances are once this baby was born they are basically forced to have a baby they didn’t want (or at least feel obligated to raise this child because it is theirs). Yes they could let the surrogate raise her or adopt her out but they are left knowing that their baby is somewhere out there without them. Pls no discussion of your views on abortion. This is solely a discussion of the surrogates decision and situation
