Why do I feel this way after my period?

I’m on birth control pills. And had a period about a week ago. I’m having lower abdomen cramping, nausea, and I’m very emotional. And it’s freaking me out a bit because i haven’t felt like this at all and it’s been a year since I been on the pills after I had my daughter. Any ideas why?
