I requested one, and my doctor will induce at 39 weeks. I am so high risk that I said I would prefer that you guys be ready for and expecting me to come in, and be prepared for birth, rather than be surprised by me coming in during labor at midnight on a Sunday. My first was a crazy delivery, I lost so much blood and needed a transfusion, I currently have treated Asherman’s syndrome (scarred uterus), and existing clips from a brain aneurysm that could cause problems during delivery.

Mine does. 
It's a very popular local doctor and I've known 2 ladies now that have been induced early by choice. One at 38w and the other at 39w. I won't be doing it but it's pretty common here.

I was induced at 39 weeks with my first child. She is healthy 7 year old. For my second child, I went into labor at 39 weeks naturally. Both kids were delivered in 5 hours. No complications. It’s your choice.

Mine was going to at 39+1 because of baby’s massive head and my anxiety about the obs being away. Signed all the paperwork but went into spontaneous labour three days before that. All went well.

They shouldn’t if there’s no medical reason if it’s your first baby. Most will do it at 39w for maternal request if it’s not your first.
