How did you know he was the one?

Question

Ladies and gents, how did you know your partner was the “one”?
Do you believe in the one? If so why?
If not, why not?

We were 18 and he was dating someone else ... someone i introduced him too from my college we went out one night i was dating someone also .. and she sat on his lap and i saw them together and just knew it was supposed to be me..
i didnt say anything though we were best friends known each other since age 11 ... he had pursued me on and off over the years.. and i wouldnt have done that to her either  ! 
he went on to tell me he felt she was the one so i backed away even further again him not knowing my feelings.. 
she went and cheated on him needless to say he found out and put blame on me because it was a guy from college so i should have known etc etc ..
the only bit i cant remember is if i actually physically told him he was the one.. 
I ended up going camping with friends i got ill cold and wet all the time he drove 3 and a half hours to come get me and shortly after that we started dating 
that will be 9 years ago in july 2019 
moral is you just know ... you never want the feeling of loosing him and he makes you feel a whole person .. a whole half of you .. you didnt know was missing  xx

I knew he was the one after 2 years of dating. We went through a lot together and he was always there for me no matter what.

I don’t think it was any one thing. It was everything. The way he has always genuinely cared about me and my feelings. He’s the kindest person I know, he’s given his bus money to a stranger that needed it, he gives a couple dollars to anyone he sees in the street. He loves kissing my cheek (and forehead, chin, nose, neck, stomach) just as much as I love getting kisses. We like the same shows and movies. I got into his arms perfectly, same with our hands. When I hug him the world falls away and all that’s there is him and I. I think I knew before we ever got together, I was in love with him for 2 years before we got together.
