Would you travel with a 4 month old??

Question

My husband is Puerto Rican And a good chunk of his family lives in Puerto Rico! They’re doing some kind of family reunion there in July. My baby will be 4 months old at that point... but I’m cautious to go. Not because I think it’s dirty there or that they’re unclean (as my mother in law stated this evening that southerners think those things🙄) Im just not sure how I’ll be feeling then, how the baby will be doing as far as sleep, and to be completely honest, I don’t want to be in a plane for 6+ hours with a baby that’s still pretty little! Also, mosquitos. I guess that’s my biggest concern. Can’t put OFF®️ on a little baby so.... What are y’all a thoughts?

I would be sceptical as well 😅.. Everything past March for me is likely to involve a baby and I can't imagine how it's gonna be. Neither for me or my baby 😂
But I'm. Very much a family person so I would talk to a doctor about my worries, read up on travel experiences with babies and probably go.
My cousin told me over Christmas that traveling with a baby is waaaaay easier than traveling with a toddler. Just be sure you have what you need to the travel like a safe place to sleep.

My husband is from Ghana and all of his family is there.  We're planning to go in July too.  I'm excited about it,  but just worried about the long flight and mosquitoes/malaria. I'm hoping to find a pediatrician soon and ask all about vaccines and mosquito prophylaxis, etc.

I dont think there should be a problem..I traveled to middle east with my 10 months old afew times.
As far as mosquitoes and bugs then you can always go to you local pharmacy and get some insect repellent spray/cream.
I always took some with me when traveling in summer due to mosquitoes and helped alot..

I have a friend who has traveled a bunch with her baby and he’s only 14 months old.  He was born in October last year and they flew to across the country to visit family for Christmas.  They also traveled internationally during the summer.  I’ve heard babies are easier to travel with, it’s when they start moving more it get tricky.  
As for the mosquitos, I’m from Florida which is definitely swamp land with our fair share of mosquitos.  I feel like I’ve seen bug spray for babies and it’s never been much of a worry for those that I’ve known with babies.  Maybe talk to your pediatrician about it.  Enjoy the trip if you go!

We are doing a bunch of international traveling next year. I think as long as your baby is up to date on the shots it will be fine.
We are going to Europe when baby girl will be around 4 months old and then Brazil when she will be about 9 months old. 
If you worry about mosquitoes just make sure to dress her with long sleeves, pants, socks... And if you’re in places with AC it will rarely have mosquitoes. You can also talk to your pediatrician and get a medical opinion about bug spray, I’m not sure if they can use it before 6 months, but there are other natural things that you can hang on the stroller or carseat to keep bugs away

I think it totally depends.. I live in New Zealand, I would happily travel to the pacific islands (4hr flight, I’m planning to do this when baby is 5 months). But I wouldn’t be comfortable going to Australia (3hr flight).. 
I think the difference is I know the destination and what to expect when I get there. I feel like I have a higher level of control. 
I think you’re totally right though about not knowing how baby will be, sleep ect... it’s a tough one but your the mum. I don’t think their is a ‘right’ choice.

I don’t think these is any mosquito epidemic that could affect y’all but Zika and baby wouldn’t be affected, from my understanding of the disease. I personally would go but it’s really up to you and baby.
