Scheduled c-section vs laboring then c-section

So with my first baby I had a totally normal/easy vaginal delivery. I didn't even tear or need to be cut. My second son, I went into labor on my own, but baby was face up. So I got into position to help him turn face down. He did. And I was in labor for 14 hours. Pushing. The doc didn't tell me his head wasnt in the right position and he wouldn't come out that way. So after pushing so long that my hooha was so swollen I thought there was a head between my thighs! I told them I was done. Time for a c-section. My recovery was HELL. My iron dropped dangerous low after I got home, the doc wouldn't prescribe me anything other than ibuprofen and I was down for about 2 weeks. My doc has been talking to me about scheduling a c-section with this baby. They said I can do either. Has anyone had a scheduled section and a non scheduled one? Is there a difference in recovery? I'm terrified it's going to be like my last one. I literally felt like I was dying. Attached is a pic of my BEFORE I went home. You can already see how white my face and lips are

The second one is my normal coloring with no makeup with my son now. It was scary.
