8 wks and bright red bleeding

Hi all, I'm freaking out right now. I am 8 weeks today and when I got up from a nap there was bright red blood in the toilet and on the toilet paper. I have had some brown spotting during this pregnancy, but nothing bright red like this. Its also been a bit complicated because my hcg levels didn't rise early on like they should have. We were convinced we were miscarrying but heard a heartbeat at 6w4d (152 bpm)! This bleeding was an hour ago and so far nothing more. No severe cramps, although I have had dull cramps throughout the pregnancy. Any insight would be appreciated!
