How traumatic Is a d&c?

I’m so scared and so anxious. How bad is it- physically, aftermath and emotionally-  I have the option for the pill or the d&c. After an elaborate talk with my ob I think d&c is better for me. Still a super slight chance it won’t happen but 99% it will and I’m freaking out :( I’m just so sad at all this news and after dealing With my mc for over a week now I just want all this to be over :(

Physically it wasn't too bad. Emotionally and going through the motions in hospital wasn't nice. Be warned though the tablets you take before the d&c cause a lot of pain. I wish someone had told me that before! At least your body will go back to normal quicker than waiting for it to happen naturally or taking the tablets. I've heard lots of people the tablets didn't even work.

I had a D&C in November and I agree it is much more painful emotionally than physically. The procedure itself is very routine and only takes about 15 minutes. You will more than likely experience some light cramping after the procedure and a day or 2 after. Some of the unexpected painful experiences to prepare for (in my case anyway) was the ultrasound the have to do to confirm the loss of pregnancy .😖 The best advice I can give is when the take you back for the procedure close your eyes and don’t look around... I know it sounds weird   you’re not going to want to remember the sights,smells, or sensations of this day... try to relax... let the tears flow... 😓 I’m so sorry for your loss

I'm so sorry for your loss :(. I ended up doing both the pill and d&c with mine.
The pill was some intense pain for about 6 hours or so but I was in the comfort of my home. It was pretty traumatic tho seeing and feeling the baby and everything come out and then having to just flush the toilet.
The D&C was just for tissue that wouldnt come out and the pain was pretty intense after for a few hours but my hospital also sucked and wouldnt give me any pen meds stronger than ibuprofen. The next day though I was pretty good and had some on and off cramping for a week or so. 
Doing it over, I'd still try the pills for but the procedure really wasnt that bad.

I had a D&C in October and was terrified. Honestly, physically it was much easier than I expected. I was asleep for the procedure and woke up with some very light cramping. I spotted for a few days and then it stopped completely. Overall it was less physically painful than a period. 
Emotionally was very difficult but that was due to the miscarriage and not the D&C itself. I think I would have found it much more challenging to have to go through the miscarriage naturally and feel/ see everything and am happy my Dr insisted I have a D&C even though I was originally against it.

I’m so sorry 😔 From what I have heard, a d&c is better because it’s over pretty quick. But with the pill, it may take a few days and cause you more physical pain.  But it’s different for everyone of course. Sending you hugs ❤️
