We went into the hospital not knowing baby’s gender and not agreeing on a single name. I had previously suggested Hudson when going through baby name lists, but my husband didn’t really care for it at first. Less than an hour after our son’s birth on new year’s day he mentioned it again and I said it’s a contender, but once he looked it up online it became clear this was meant to be our baby’s name...

We both really wanted his middle names to be William (after my father, my brother and grandfather) and Richard (his father), until we read that Hudson was once considered a nickname for Richard. It’s of Scottish origin (his mom is Scottish), my family is said to have a history with the Hudson’s Bay company, and apparently the first recording of the name Hudson was William Hud. Meant to be 💗
