What does everyone think about babies getting their ears pierced ?

I think it’s selfish to put unnecessary holes in a child because of one’s own aesthetic interests. 
I’m waiting until she asks and can take care of them.

My mother got my ears pierced when I was 1 years old l. My ears got infected so bad that they swelled up and the piercing got trapped inside. Don’t do it.

There is literally no reason what so ever to give a baby a piercing. It leads to infection and allergic reaction. No reason to risk that on a baby.

I wish my ears weren't pierced. They get infected really bad, I'm allergic to earrings and I don't wear earrings anyways. I also don't like the way the holes look but the holes are there for life. I wish there was a way to remove them.

I think it looks so cute but I won’t do it for my daughter until she’s older. She likes to play with her ears and I’m not going to risk her pulling out the earring and swallowing it. Plus I don’t want to subject her to the pain and possibility of infection. I honestly think it’s a little selfish because it’s more for the mom to be happy, not the baby. My mom waited until I was old enough to ask for it, so that’s what I’ll likely do with my daughter.

I don't agree with altering children permanently at all. I had my ears pierced as a baby. I'm 25 now and the holes are still there. It's annoying because I don't wear earrings. I have an allergy, apparently. Anything I put in my ears gets infected really badly, which is weird because I have other piercings that have no issues. I hate the holes, but they are there forever, I guess 🤷‍♀️

I'm not against it, but I don't understand the point in doing that. A baby doesn't need their ears pierced and there's no valid reasoning for doing it at that age either. My daughter can get them pierced when she's old enough to ask for it.

I don’t really care what other people do with their children’s ears. For my daughter I’m waiting thought. When she’s old enough to tell me she wants to get them done is when she will. I think it will be super fun to do together. She could get her lobes done and I could get something done too!
