Toddler tantrums

Guys I need help.

My mom passed away about a week ago unexpectedly. My husband and I have been so busy with trying to take care of her stuff because she had no one here except me.

My son is 2 and a half and has stayed over at my husbands parents house for 3 days but we always picked him around 7 or 8p to take him home with us. He has been home with me for the last 4 days. His temper tantrums have taken over him. Anything I say or do, he throws himself on the floor and screams as loud and angry as he can. This is anytime he doesn’t get something, or it’s nap time or bed time.

He even got a fat lip from being in his crib for bedtime and he didn’t want to be.

I know he can sense my husband and I feeling overwhelmed but the last 2 days we have spent with him playing with his new toys with him and giving him attention. I’m just not sure how to handle the tantrums.

We usually put him in a time out chair for a couple of minutes and that seems to help but if I do that now, he is going to be in it a lot and is that ok? I just don’t know and I’m at a very low point in my life right now.

Please help!
