Ultrasound question

I’m not sure if this is a stupid question or not because I’ve heard it’s not a good idea, but I was wondering if it would be okay to request an ultrasound to see my little guy? I’m 37 weeks and 2 days and I’ve heard it’s not safe or something getting it done this later on but I haven’t seen him since I was 30 weeks and I’d like to just see him again. I’ve tried calling my doctor and asking but it’s a military doctor on post and its kind of a pain in the ass to get anything unless it’s an emergency. But there’s a little place near where I live that does ultrasounds super cheap so I was just curious before I went in there
