No birth plan?! 😱

Am I the only one who doesn't really care to make a birth plan? With my first baby the plan was simple: have the baby. Have the baby and use whatever resources I see fit at the time 🤷‍♀️. Everything went perfectly smooth. 
Now I'm due with baby #2 in April and I don't feel any need or pressure to make a birth plan? Am I crazy?

My birth plan is to have a baby. 
If I have to have a c section my boyfriend will stay with the baby if she needs to be taken away. 
That’s it. Plain and simple. I trust my OB explicitly and the anesthesiologist is my best friends dad.

I didn’t do a birth plan just had a general idea of what I wanted, not everything will according to plan anyway. I wanted a natural birth but needed an emergency csection anyway

I didn’t have a birth plan at all with not my two first one was an emergency induction so couldn’t have what I wanted anyway and my second came to quick once I got to the hospital so couldn’t have what I wanted then so didn’t see the point tbh. My husband knows what I want and don’t want so if worse comes to worse he would argue my corner xxx

Nope I didn’t either. It was nice because I didn’t have expectations that weren’t fulfilled. I didn’t feel like I failed at anything or things didn’t go well because they didn’t go “according to plan.” I’m normally a very organized & plan to perfection type person but when it came to the labor & delivery all I wanted to do was go with the flow.

I think they're important if you want a natural and low intervention birth. With my first, I was pressured into so many unnecessary interventions and I was in so much pain, I couldn't advocate for myself. It ended in c section. 
If you're open to whatever and don't care, then you most likely do not need one.

The reason I did do a birth plan was so I knew my options, and since I was having an unmedicated birth, I wanted as few questions asked as possible. With the birth plan it was all in writing and on file, so I got asked very few questions.

I’m a labor and delivery nurse and I’d say about 98% of patients do to have a birth plan because they know it’s pointless. We ask on admission for every patient their preferences and stick to that.

Mine is simply, ask for a labor tub room (you have to when you check in and want it), no hep B because theres zero necessity for that, no eye goop because I dont have an STD so again not necessary, delayed cord clamping for 5 min, no bath for first 24hrs, and baby is NEVER without my husband or i.  Pretty straight forward.

My OB told me to have an idea of what I would like. To see if I’m more open to pain medication. Because there’s a good chance if I get specific, I’ll be disappointed if it doesn’t happen how I want it.
