What age do you think is a good age to pierce a baby’s ear?

I had mine done really young...i think my mom said 3 or 6 months because it was a relative's dying wish to see me with pierced ears. This was also 29 years ago...I've never regretted or resented my mom for getting them pierced.

When they asked to get them pierced, but if you do it early at least go to a professional piercer and not Walmart or any other store that uses a piercing gun.

The earlier, the less likely it is to get infected or irritated. It also heals faster. My oldest daughter, I waited until she asked & she cried for almost 2 hrs & asked why I didn’t do it when she was a baby so it wouldn’t hurt so bad. (I got her sisters’ pierced after 2m.)

I waited until my daughter had all her vaccines, so about 4 months. She cried for one second, and it was actually because we held her head still. They’ve healed perfectly, she never messed with them, and now at 2 1/2 she loves to change her ‘pretties.’ I understand the argument of waiting, but I’ve had my ears pierced since I was two months old, and I’ve never resented my mom for having them pierced.

When they ask for it and can pay for it themselves. I got my ears pierced when I was 17 and it didn’t hurt too bad and I was glad that altering my body was my decision and not taken from me. So with the same respect my parents showed towards me I will treat my daughter.

My husband's ex got my step daughters done at 5 and it has caused nothing but pain for her. She is constantly having issues and we have considered taking them out multiple times because its causing headaches and everything else. So I'd say super young (less than a year) or wait until they're 8/9 years old.
