My twins were born prematurely @ 32 weeks & came home in only 2 weeks. Both boys then got stuffy noses within the first few days being home, I asked the pediatrician about it & I was told it was normal for newborns to have it. Then my one twin started getting a cough with it, pediatrician said it’s probably from drainage bc his lungs sounded clear. I didn’t like the sound of the cough though, so I kept a close eye. Within only 1-2 nights he progressed so fast, he started having a crackling sound with his breathing, breathing more heavily and feeling warm. I took his temp (4 A.M.) & it was 100.8 so i did it again and it said 98? I told my husband & he said to wait until the pediatrician gets in at 8:30 A.M. to call. I said okay....I waited 15 min & was like NOPE IM CALLING DOC NOW! i called & he said to take both boys to the ER. So we did. While we were waiting in the ER for the pediatrician & nurses to come look at our boys ..which everyone was taking their good ole time to do so, the twin with the fever STOPPED BREATHING IN MY ARMS. He turned completely white with blue lips and was completely limp. Well after I started yelling at the top of my lungs that my baby wasn’t breathing, everyone started acting quick & stimulated him back thank goodness. He was tested positive for RSV & had to be transferred to a children’s hospital & is now being treated. He is doing okay & is definitely on the path of recovering. (my other boy was tested negative & was able to go home) I am traumatized seeing my sweet boy lifeless for a couple minutes (which felt like a lifetime) & thinking I was going to lose him, I am so exhausted & emotional. 😔 but he is such a little trooper!! 💙💪🏼
