In need of advice/help in the real estate department

Alina

My husband and I have been building a home since March 2018, on our floor plan we put that we want 14' ft ceilings in the garage.

We went last week to the property to see the progress of the house, come to find out that the ceilings are only 11' ft. We are over paying about $30k for the garage, with other upgrades aswell, and the builder said that it was "over looked" and that they are not going to redo it since the frame/trusses are already nearly finished. My husband works from home in the garage, so he needs it to be exactly how he wants and that's why we are spending a good chunk of money on it. We made this VERY clear to the builder from the very beginning. If the garage isnt how he needs it, then we do not need this house.

We have invested $10k of earnest money into the house.

I am just so furious that we wasted almost a whole year on this house build, and the builder doesnt want to fix the mistake.

Has anyone had a similar experience with their house/builder and how did you go about it? Any advice is much appreciated, I'm extremely stressed and disappointed. We were supposed to close in March 2019 and looks like that wont be happening.
