Mirena Removal?

Ive had my mirena in for about 3, almost 4 months and I was wondering what I should do. Right around time my period comes I get nasty cramps, tears and all. Then later on eveything goes back to 'normal.' Except the pain during or after sex or the random cramps when its no where near that time. Should I get it taken out? I also experience a lot of the side effects. Anything helps!

My first Mirena (when I hadn’t been pregnant) was a disaster when it came to cramping in the early days. The cramps were more intense and longer lasting than they had ever been for a few months. Now that I have delivered a baby, I would honestly say some of the Mirena cramps were comparable to early labor cramps. I was also coming off ten years of the pill at the same time, so I honestly don’t know if the cramps were being caused by starting the Mirena, or stopping the pill. 
Around the 4 month mark the cramps started getting much better and by about the 6 month mark they almost completely went away. I kept my Mirena in for a total of 4.5 years, and the last 4 years were absolutely wonderful. No periods, non-existent cramping, it was great!!!!!
Should you take your Mirena out? That is completely up to you. However, I did want to share my experience that I also had bad cramping initially after insertion which eventually went away and I ended up loving the Mirena. Your experience may be similar to mine and you may be close to symptoms stopping. But you may not.
