Blood Test, optional or necessary?

Ira

Hello! This is my first ever pregnancy and quite a surprise one to me since I was under the assumption my PCOS would make it extremely hard.

I took a First Response day after my missed period and came back as positive. I have taken four more test since then (two Clearblue and another two First Response), and they all say yes. However when I called to schedule an appointment they said they won’t see me until February because it was too early. And no blood test was mentioned.

Now, I grew up in Puerto Rico, and over there they would bring you right away for a blood test in order to confirmed the results. Even if you cannot have an ultra sound until weeks after. Is that not the case here or should I try and find another doctor?

This little miracle is everything to me right now, and I want to make sure everything goes like it’s supposed to.

UPDATE: Thank you to everyone who replied! I called back to the clinic who gave me the appointment but they refused to see me any earlier than the appointment. After having a mini meltdown about it my husband found another doctor who was more than willing to see me that same week! We just went to our first appointment today.

We love our new doctor, who patiently answered all of our questions and give us several option that can help me. He had me do several tests (both urine and blood) and though it was too early to see the baby (I’m only five weeks) he did an ultrasound and showed us where the sac protecting the baby was and is having us return in two weeks when we’ll be able to see the baby /and/ hopefully hear a faint heartbeat!

We are so happy and relieved. Thank you all for your support and advice!
