Video monitors necessary?

I am getting the Owlet foot monitor as a gift and a video monitor is quite expensive given all the other things I need to buy. Do is a video monitor really necessary or can I get away with just the sound monitor until my baby is older.
I also live in a small house and will be about 20 feet max from the baby most of the time.

I loved mine because then I could watch baby and never had to worry about sneaking in and waking them just to check on them!!

Not necessary but they are nice because if you hear a noise you can see if they went back to sleep or need something. Otherwise you'll be rushing in each noise you hear.

I love mine and use it even though my daughter is now a toddler. You don’t have to get an expensive one. They really do help.

You absolutely need one. Suffocation and strangulation are rarely heard. So if you can't hear it or see it then how can you check in your baby? An Owlet monitor can be great when working properly but they are NOT a medical device and they're not meant to save lives either. A lot of people have more false alarms than real ones as well. A friend of mine went through two Owlets before getting rid of it completely. So yes, I'd absolutely still recommend getting a video monitor.

I love being able to see my son especially now that he’s standing and moving all around in his crib. I don’t have an owlet because they are very expensive and can cause false alarms. I think a video monitor is worth it.

Great to have. Not a necessity but very convenient. Owlet has a video monitor available. I don't think it's much to buy it separately plus it would be more convenient then having 2 different monitoring systems.

I have a very similar situation and really felt like we would need the video monitor on top of the owlet. Our baby is only 2 weeks old and the owlet is our saving grace. I can not imagine life without it. We’ve used the video monitor once 🤦‍♀️. Maybe we will use it when she is older? But for now I say don’t waste your money.
