Newbie question...cotton spandex!?

So I love the fee of cotton spandex, the stretch is nice too, but the feel just is a biggy! I am semi new to sewing and I am still learning fabrics and what can/should be done with them!! If I wanted to make a blanket, could I potentially use stretch fabric on one side an a not stretch on another, for example the cotton spandex on one side and cotton quilting fabric on the other or is that just stupid?

You could use a cotton jersey on one side (sort of like a soft lining... it has a little less stretch than a spandex) and a quilting weight cotton on the other side. You won’t be able to “stretch” the finished project any longer (if that makes sense), because the quilting weight side will prevent that. And you may have some sagging/ buckling on the jersey side. You might want to put a few tacking stitches throughout the panel to minimize this. 
Jersey and spandex can be difficult to work with for beginners, but I’m sure you can figure it out. I’d recommend watching a few youtube videos.
