Was your proposal a complete surprise?

Did you know your SO was gonna propose to you soon or was it a surprise?
My boyfriend asked me when was a good time for marriage and I said whenever he was ready, he told me right now he was. Does that mean he’ll be proposing soon? we’ve only been dating for almost 5 months but we do have a strong bond and connection to each other.

We had no formal proposal, just a lot of conversations like yours and discussions on our goals and plans for the future. I like the saying, "the proposal should be a surprise. The engagement shouldn't be." Just be clear you want/expect a formal proposal if that's what you want. My husband and I had a blast planning our elopement.

I was completely surprised. We didn't really talk a whole lot about marriage but by then we were already living together and acting like a married couple. And I knew I wanted to marry him anyways so if course I was thrilled when he asked. He had actually bought the ring months before finally asking and I had no idea.

We definitely talked about marriage beforehand. It’s smart to do to make sure youre on the same page about major issues such as living and kids and jobs etc. but that’s all I knew, he kept the when and how a surprise

I knew it was coming because he told me to pick out my ring. He put it on layaway rather than buying on credit. That way I didn’t know when I would get it, I was surprised he paid it off so quickly.
