Contractions?

I’m 38 weeks pregnant with twins and every once in a while (especially when I’m standing up) I’ll get this really sharp but quick pain in the very bottom of my stomach. It makes me stop in my steps because it gets intense. While I’m laying down I get this achy almost burning feeling in my stomach and my butt feels like it’s burning. Are these contractions?

I’m 36 weeks with twins and was also induced with my first (got the epidural as soon as I felt a slight cramp) so I totally know what you mean about not being sure! I ended up in L&D two weeks ago because I was sick and they told me I was contracting every two minutes. I feel contractions occasionally now, but they are more like a dull period cramp and there is a clear start and then stop, like a sense of relief. 
I was soooooo worried I wouldn’t know what they felt like but when they happened and I paid attention it was easy to tell. I do feel a sharp pain sometimes and they said my uterus is irritated from having the twins. It kinda sounds like what you described. I didn’t make any progress so I was sent home, but I think you’ll know when it’s contractions vs. an irritation.

That’s awesome to make it to 38 weeks with twins! My c I scheduled for 38+2 but that feels ages away (35+1 now). What’s your doctors wish for you? A few more days?

No. Contractions aren't a sharp, over with in a second pain.

I was told it was skin stretching, as I get the same sensations.
