Delayed first bath? How long will you wait to clean vernix off baby?

Been reading a lot about how it is recommended to wait at least 24 before washing baby after birth. I know a few people who waited a week or longer. I was thinking I would wait at least a week. Anyone else?

I actually waited until my daughter’s umbilical cord stump fell off before actually submerging her.
Before that I just got a nice soft, warm wash cloth and spot cleaned her where needed 😊

You never fully submerge a baby until their cord falls off, and you can really delay the first wipe down as long as you want! I have heard benefits of just rubbing the vernix into the babies skin! I just know that if you don't bathe them then guests and nurses should wear gloves or at least wash their hands very well before and after handling baby.

Dont sumerge the baby just fill a pan or baby tub with some soapy water wipe down and then refill with clean water and wipe down or just some plain water the umbilical cord needs to dry out first and if you start giving baths to soon it'll take longer to dry out.
