Ladies what would you do if your SO asked you to help pay for the engagement ring? I personally would not help, I would be happy with whatever ring he could afford paying for me on his own.

I think it depends. Like if it was because you wanted some specific type of ring and it was ridiculously expensive, then sure. But if it was just because he wanted help, then I would rather just have what he could afford.

I only said no, because I didn’t expect my husband to buy one he couldn’t afford. I bought him a ring I could afford. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I dont know why it matters. If you’re getting married, you’re assets combine anyway.

I helped with mine because we already have a joint account before being engaged. And we picked it out together

I don't know that I'd say you should help, but I don't see why it is an issue either way. I helped out a little with mine because that's the way it worked for our finances (and we had the mindset that our finances would be combined following the wedding anyway). So either way, unless you continue keeping separate accounts and all post wedding (which I don't understand but know some people do keep things separate and whatever works, right?) then I don't think it should matter.
