Is it okay to hint to my boyfriend of 6 months that I’d like some jewelry for Valentine’s Day?

I would like a simple necklace or ring (nothing extravagant). Probably a necklace so it doesn’t seem too much like a promise ring. We will have been dating for 6 months by the time the holiday rolls around. I don’t really care if h doesn’t get me jewelry but I’d like something I can wear everyday to remind me of him. We’re both fully committed. Is it too early? And really, I’m not after jewelry or money and it wouldn’t hurt my feelings. I just don’t know dating etiquette and if this would be appropriate for how long we’ve been dating

Well another thing: I prefer doing things with him rather than getting things from him. I do have some of his hoodies and shirts and then he bought me some earrings for my birthday but I’d much rather go to a hotel and spend money there or go out to eat on Valentine’s Day then just get a gift because I can get stuff any other time. Valentine’s Day is about spending time with your valentines, not so much the gifts

You might hint at it. My first Valentine’s Day with my boyfriend was last year but we had started dating Jan. 28 of 2018 so we hadn’t been dating long when Valentine’s Day rolled around. We were still in the stage of figuring one another out so I wasn’t even sure if he believed in the holiday and would get me anything at all. 
Sure enough, when the day rolled around, he mentioned to me that he had gotten me something small and so that’s when I decided to go ahead and get him something too. When we went to exchange it, we had bought each other the same exact box of chocolates 😂 
Now that we’ve been dating for a year, I’m not sure what to expect this year. Probably nothing considering it’s so close to our anniversary and I’m okay with it. 
But if I were in your position, I’d maybe hint at it, or just wait until you’ve been dating for a little longer???
