First ultrasounds???

Hi all! This is a curiosity post! I’m writing from Ireland. I’m seeing lots of you post your ultrasounds of 6 weeks! Congratulations everyone! What little miracles... here in Ireland our first hospital ultrasounds are offered at around 12 weeks. Are you all getting these 6 weeks scans through your public health system or getting privately?

Here in Alberta, Canada our health care pays for our tests. They don’t cover prescriptions. People pay out of pocket or have private insurance through work to cover prescription costs

I had a 6 week scan but only bc of medical reasons and being high risk. With my other pregnancies, I didnt have a scan until closer to 12 weeks.

I’m getting my ultrasound at 10w. I think they usually only do early ultrasounds when it’s high risk

I had one at 6w4d with this pregnancy due to heavy bleeding and not knowing the GA due to irregular periods. I could’ve been anywhere from 6-14 weeks. With my first I had my first around 9 weeks I believe to date the pregnancy. All was through my OB and covered by my insurance.

U.S. - usually 8-12 weeks and 18-22 weeks is what insurance will cover. I’m also paying out of pocket for a 3D scan at 30 weeks
