Can 1 child have a unique name & the other have a common one?

Question

Our first son is named Jack. Jack is my husband’s middle name. My husband wanted a junior. I want to name him after him but didn’t want to call them the same name, so we both settled & fell in love with Jack ❤️
Now we’re having our second son, and we want to give him a unique name. We love the name Ares from Greek mythology (I’m Greek). We’re worried they’re too different though. 
What do you think?

Why would siblings have to have similar names in the first place? They’re their own people.

I don't know where people got the idea that sibling names have to match...name them whatever you'd like!

I am one of those ppl who thinks it’s strange if two siblings have very common names and one has a unique name ... however that being said I like both of those names and I think you should go for it!

I hate matching names (Blake and Jake OR Rae and Mae) but I hate when sibsets don’t go well together, and when one name stands out more than the other. I love both surnames/unisex names for first names and vintage names, too. My oldest’s name is Finley and we also liked Lily for her. We ultimately went with Finley. So when I was pregnant with my twins, I wanted to use surnames and unisex names for them, too. Lucky for me, my favorite names fell into these categories. My twin girl’s name is Saylor which is a surname and it’s considered unisex, but I also loved Etta for her.. Finley and Etta just didn’t sit well with me. I felt like Finley and Saylor went perfectly as they weren’t matchy but they were the same style. Just like I think Lily and Etta would have been great together! Not everyone has these same views as me though lol. I just love when sibsets fit perfectly together and aren’t matchy.

My first daughter is Liliana which I thought was beautiful and unique. I'm pregnant with twin girls and was stuck for a long time because I was trying to find more beautiful unique names I loved. In the end we picked shorter names that are more common but which we love. Audrey and Olivia. 
So I say go with what you love ❤️

I think jack and ares is very cute!! My sons name is Acreseaus so I don’t feel like I could name my next boy something simple like josh. So I have a Acreseaus,Remington,and I’m thinking either Aphrodite or Rugar for this one!

My sister use to date a guy whose name was Gareth while his brothers were named Tony & Scott. He said it was a bit weird but not too many people commented on it.
