How many IUI’s before moving on to IVF?

My fertility specialist said that she recommends for every couple to go through 6 IUI’s before IVF.  So my question to you ladies is how many IUI’s did y’all do before moving on to IVF?
Also if there are any Canadians in here specifically ontario, how much did IUI cost at your clinic?

We did one. 
I wasn’t wasting time or money on something that wasn’t going to work and low success rates. We thought we only had morphology issues. 
Luckily we did, egg quality was bad. Three rounds of retrieval produced two embryos. First FET and we are pregnant.

It really depends on why you need assisted fertility. For us, my husband’s sperm count is zero, so we need Donor sperm. Therefore, our first IUI will actually be the first time we have ever tried to get pregnant ever. So half a dozen IUI’s might make sense. However, if you have other issues, less IUI’s may be suitable before you try IVF. It’s best to discuss a plan with your RE based on your fertility factors ✌🏽

I did 5 IUIs and wish I didn’t do any and moved right on to IVF. Waste of time and money for us, not to mention the agonizing heartbreak. I think the success rate is only around 20, 25%.

I did two IUIs before moving to IVF and wish now that I had just gone straight to IVF because it worked the first cycle. I ovulate about a week late (which was fixed with clomid/femara and trigger shot), but otherwise no real issues for me or my husband. Don’t waste too much time or money on IUI, in my opinion! I think the standard with fertility treatment is that your chances are best that it will work within 3 cycles. If not, time to try something new.

We did 3 unmedicated IUI then 3 with the stims before moving to IVF.  I wish we would have moved on sooner!

6 sounds like a lot to me! Our clinic recommends 3 max. We did two before moving to IVF.

mine only recommends 3. he said we could do six if we wanted but usually if it doesn’t happen by the third it’s best to move on
