i’m desperate for answers

Kirstin

my son is a week shy of 3 months old. he has had tummy issues the second we switched to formula (I wasn’t producing enough). we’ve been on gerber gentle ease, gerber soothe, similac sensitive, and enfamil gentle ease. he has been in constant pain and constipated 90% of his life. his primary pediatrician thinks he could have a milk allergy and about a month ago, she said if he isn’t doing better in a month we should make another switch. it’s been a month and he’s the same if not worse.

I took him in to see the doctor today and he saw a different pediatrician (his pcp was out today). I told her all his symptoms, what his main doctor has said about milk allergy, etc.

this doctor told me that since they’re hard poops and the fact he hardly spits up, she thinks it’s a lactose intolerance. she told me she thinks we need to try soy first. I then said, “but won’t soy constipate him even more?” and she said no??

i thought soy would make their poops worse? he already hardly poops and they’re hard. and it’s very painful for him to poop even when I try to make him.

i’m a little (a lot) irritated because this doctor told me something completely different from his pcp. what do I do?? I need personal experiences. I can’t stand watching him be in this much pain any longer.
