Well that just happened.
It’s my turn! Here is my crazy birth story.
May be a little long, sorry in advance.
Yesterday January 24th we got to the hospital at 5am for our induction, got in, settled down and discussed what route we wanted to go. Pitocin or Ruptured water. We decided we wanted to try and make this as natural as possible and went with rupturing my water, which happened at 6:30am
About 30mins after I started to get some good contractions that were in a steady pattern and were pretty strong so were were feeling pretty good about this route. But a couple hours in they started to die down and eventually went away completely. 😑😑
We checked to see what I was dilated to and I was still at a 2 only 70% effaced and baby girl was not engaging at all, sitting at a -2 station. So we decided to start some pitocin to get the contractions going again. It started working within 30 mins and I had decided that it was time to start walking and maybe get this baby down and get my mind off of the pain. We walked for about and hour and a half when the pain got to be a little to much and my husband said it was a good time to utilize the tub. (Best idea EVER!)
Around 12:00pm I got in the tub and labored for about an hour, until the contractions weren’t being relieved by the jets or the warm water.
At 2:30-3:00pm we checked my cervix and found that I was only at a 4, 90% effaced and girly was STILL at a -2 station. I was feeling so defeated and in a lot of pain for only being at a 4. I tried to suck it up for a few more hours and handle the pain, I felt like a wimp for wanting to get the epidural at a 4 when the plan was to wait at least until I was at a 6. But my husband told be he could see I was in a ton of pain and helped me come to terms and not feeling like a failure.
At 5:30 the anesthesiologist came in and placed my epidural, and my legs went numb almost immediately. Lol We got me all situated with the peanut ball to help her move down and hopefully me get some sleep.
6:30 rolled around and I was still feeling quite a bit of my contractions in my stomach and lower back but I couldn’t feel my legs at all. They called the nurse anesthetist to come take a look and she decided that we just needed to re dose and it should work. And it worked immediately (she is my new best friend haha)
About 8:00pm I started to be able to feel the pressure of her head down low but it was only in time with the contractions, so we thought nothing of it and let me get some more rest.
Here’s where it got a little crazy.
At 8:30-8:45 our nurse came in to fix the heart rate monitor because we couldn’t find her at all. We sat there trying to get it to pick her up and we couldn’t. Thats when I told the nurse I was feeling a TON of pressure down there, so she decided that we would just check and see what I was sitting at.
Well baby girl decided that she was going to enter the world at that moment.
My nurse turned around from setting something down and baby girl was on the bed between my legs.
Talk about a dramatic entry.
