Which brand breastpump do you prefer and why?

I am needing some reviews on which pump I should get. I used a medela in the past (hospital loaner) and I didn’t think the suction was strong enough but it could have been from trying to express colostrum in the beginning. Also, do you recommend a tote style breast pump bag or backpack style or does it even matter?

I had a medela with my first and honestly hated using it every single time. Even in the beginning when I was producing a lot of milk, I would pump for sooo long and only get a couple ounces. I ended up getting mastitis 3 times. Idk if it’s just me though- I never tried any other brands, but I just ordered a Spectra S2 through insurance and I’m really hoping it’s better this time around.

I had a Medela pump in style and a Spectra S2 (and used the hospital Medela at work a few times as I'm a nurse and forgot mine)... Spectra 10000%, especially if you need the suction power. it has much more and is much gentler! The Spectra is quieter, has more settings, much stronger suction as needed, a light, timer... And we used avent bottles and was great to pump directly into. I could go on and on after using both! Hated my Medela so much that I gave it away.

Spectra S1 and S2 are exactly the same, except the S1 has the option to go cordless when necessary because it has a rechargeable battery. I have never tried Medela, but I will say the Spectra is awesome. I pumped a half a bottle the first time I used it for 10 minutes, versus a few drops with the Ameda hospital loaner I tried. The suction is powerful, but gentle. I had the S1.
