Does your house HAVE to be filthy after having kids?

It seems like most people complain about not being able to keep a clean house with kids.  Cant they clean after themselves?  Especially once they are 7+.  Shouldn't they have chores?  This is depressing because I like my stuff clean

Growing up (I have 4 siblings) we NEVER had a filthy house. Sure the odd mess here and there, but nothing major. We all had chores, everyone had something they looked after. Younger kids had less responsibility but slowly changed as they got older. Having a clean house with kids is possible. Just takes effort on everyone’s part.

Not everyone is mentally healthy also some kids even after cleaning makes a mess so really I just wait until bed to clean up most of the stuff before I pass out

No my mom is a NEAT FREAK she vaccums every single day when she comes home from work and spends 3 hours every Saturday morning dusting, and polishing the floors. She had our asses whooped lol  there was no such thing as clutter or a mess in my house. She said she started us with cleaning as soon as we could hold our heads up. She said she would hold our hands and initiate how to put things back to where they belong. My mama also had an in-home daycare and did this with all the other kids lol

I can’t speak for everyone but I never once remember my moms house being filthy lol. She liked to clean though.

Absolutely not. It can be harder to keep a clean house with infants and toddlers but what I do is stick to a schedule - I have daily chores (sweep/vacuum, spot mop, dishes, counters) and weekly chores (bathrooms, steam mop twice a week, laundry, refrigerator and freezer clean out). And my husband will clean up when he gets home from work if I have had a demanding day with the baby. Toddlers can learn to clean up their toys and children can take on some chores (although you are mostly teaching when they are young and have to clean again after them lol)

Nope! I like my house clean! I have two older kids that can clean after themselves. My baby, I let her play and destroy my living room then I’ll clean up when she’s napping and repeat. No excuses, unless your sick, disabled or flat out tired. 🤷🏼‍♀️
