First prenatal visit?

I called my OBGYN this morning to ask what to expect at my first prenatal appointment next week.
The lady at the desk said "they'll do a pelvic and bloodwork and that's about it."
Is that really all I can expect? I figured there would be more to it.

My first was only bloodwork 🤷‍♀️ every office does it differently. How far along will you be?

It’s like a full physical.
They do swabs, PAP (if you’re due for one/unless you refuse), breast exam, family history for both you and dad, talk about concerns, do the referrals for bloodwork and ultrasound or schedule them - depends how your office works and then you’re done!

Every office is different and it depends on how far along you are. If they told you that it then I’m sure it is. My office first visit is 7 weeks along and they did all that plus an ultrasound. They said they don’t do ultrasound before 7 weeks (at my office) so that’s why they do the first apt at that time and not sooner. In my first pregnancy I used a different office and things were done totally differently.

With my first I didn't get a dating ultrasound. It all depends in your doctor.

I had a urine test no bloodwork lots of paperwork and questions as well as a pap. Blood wasn’t done till my second appt.

Mine did urine test, weight, blood pressure, pap smear and an ultrasound for dating and gave me papers for blood work
