Would you move out in this situation?

Let’s say you’re at college/uni and go to the college/uni in your city. You don’t have to commute, it’s only like a 20-25min walk everyday. Would you move out from home to live in the halls with other students? I’m in this situation and literally lots of people have asked why I didn’t move out to “experience uni at its fullest” and “just move away from parents” and I’m like what is the point?! Take a student loan out that I’ll have to pay back, pay rent, pay utilities, do everything by myself, live in the same house with other 3-4 students so basically have no privacy and share the bathroom and the kitchen with them... for what? Just to get rid of my parents? I thought it was a logical thing to just stay at home if you go to uni or college in the same city... but apparently not lol. It was LOTS of people who asked me this, and whenever I meet new people still they ask me. Would you move out in this situation? 😂

As long as you don't have issues with your parents, staying at home is perfectly fine. You are able to save money doing this, and I'm sure you have college friends you could go out with to have fun and live the "college life"

No but personally I would still take out the student loan and bank it, then at the end of uni have £9-10,000 to maybe put a deposit on a house? Only because you don’t or any interest on that loan for three years, don’t have to pay it back until you’re earning £21,000, and even then it’s deducted before tax and isn’t a lot.

I went to school in my town too.  I moved in with my bf and then husband.  I never stayed in a dorm.  I was able to pay for school for school for four years until the university changed its payment policy and my next program became twice as expensive.  Because I still had several friends in town that never went to uni I guess I did miss out a bit, but I didn't really join in any school function.

In your situation I’d definitely stay with my parents! But I knew I really wanted to be independant and get away from home so I went to college across the country 😂 different people want different things out of college, don’t let them try and tell you what’s « best »

I would live with parents or get my own private house. I prefer houses, flats have never felt like a real home to me.

I did for the second year to live in a dorm. It was a good experience for me, but after that I got an off-campus apartment with a friend which is definitely what I would recommend if you do not have scholarship to cover the dorm. I personally wanted to be independent and have my own place at that stage in life so it was worth it to me. But if you can’t swing it financially, then there’s nothing wrong with staying with your parents a couple more years.

I lived in a dorm for 2 years and scholarships paid for everything. After I graduated the first time, I was a given a beautiful 5 bed 3 bath home as a graduation gift. Scholarships have paid for three degrees. No need to take out student loans and put yourself into debt that you don’t need. There is nothing wrong with staying at home with family. Plus, you have your privacy, no one is stealing anything, and you can go to sleep at a decent time without the loud noise. The only reason I had a dorm is because I moved out of state to go to school. I’ve never taken out student loans ever. So when I finish up my last masters, I’ll won’t have any debt and I’ll be debt free ❤️❤️. It’s a wonderful feeling
