Travel at 35 weeks?

Question

My husband and I are planning a trip via car about 9 hours away the first weekend of May. I will be 35 weeks pregnant and wondering if anyone has done this? 
My first pregnancy I worked full time (retail on my feet all day) up to 38/39 weeks with no issues other than swelling. I will ask my doctor at my next appt in 2 weeks. Any advice?

They probably  wont like that idea. Just becuase you will be so far away. My case is alittle differan because I have twins but she said no traveling after 33 weeks

My doctor said no traveling more than an hour away after 35 weeks unless I was comfortable delivering else where. 
I’m anxious having my baby shower May 11th!

I drove 3 hours at 35 weeks last pregnancy and it was insanely uncomfortable. I had to keep stopping due to back and hip pain. I wouldn’t recommend it that far out.

I will be traveling to San Diego from Annapolis MD in May at 35 weeks. It’s about an 7 / 8 hr flight. My OB says that it’s ok. I just need to get up and about frequently and wear compression socks. 
Next month I’m driving from Baltimore Maryland to San Diego California. It’s a 47hr car drive... so again my doctor recommended that I wear compression socks, comfortable clothes, and that I get out of the car every 2hrs for at least 15 mins to stretch my legs.

We travelled to San Antonio (11 hours with no stops) once a week until I was 38 weeks with my second. 
Just make sure to get out and walk around every 2 hours or so to prevent blood clots.

People definitely go into labour at 35 weeks! I would have a plan at your destination, and along the way, in case that happens! Also sitting in a car for 9 hours sounds soooo uncomfortable at 35 weeks.

My last pregnancy I flew to California from Illinois at 35 weeks and my dr was fine with it!!

I called my doc today to make sure and she said it’s fine as long as we stop every 2 hours to walk. I have a 2 year old so lots of potty stops anyways!

Thanks everyone! Fortunately we will be traveling to a place where we do have family and we are familiar with the area. We’re talking about splitting the driving up between 2 days if my doc is concerned.
