When are your families coming to the hospital?

I’m due this Friday and I’m curious about when to contact my family to come when it’s time. Who knows I could be in labor for 24 hours...will they really want to just sit there and wait? Or should I tell them it come when I’m close to time to push? How are y’all handling it?

You will not have any time at all to spend with family honestly lol. I was so surprised at how insanely busy I was the entire time I was at the hospital & I was lucky to even get my 3 hours of sleep over my 3 day stay. Good luck with your visitors.

My Mother and father in law came to the hospital 6 hours after I gave birth. I didn’t mind at all because I love my ILs, they aren’t pushy or overbearing. And plus, this was their last grand baby from me and they were excited. But I tell people to just have visitors when you are ready and well rested.

I had my mom, sister and dad there with me just hanging out when I was in the hospital with my first. Even had my husbands best friend (whom I’m close to as well). When it was time to push everyone left and waited in the waiting room, but it was nice to have company. I wouldn’t recommend a lot of people unless you have an epidural though.
On the same note, this time around when I went to l&d there was a family waiting in the waiting room, about 10 people. Turns out they had been there for over 12 hours! If you don’t want people in the room with you to chill and keep you company, I’d let them know you’re in labor but tell them not to come to the hospital until you let them know you’re close.
