So I need some input here. I have had a copper IUD for about three years now and I have been noticing subtle changes to my period. My periods are back to normal as far as length, time and duration and when they show up but their pattern has changed. Before I used the IUD I did not spot before my periods and I did not get bloody discharge in the days before.

I've noticed that now, almost two years in, I spot and begin cramping anywhere from a few days to a week before my period actually starts, and the spotting is very light and looks honestly like pinkish, bloody mucus. Sometimes I have small clots but usually it's just that.

My periods were not like this before, and I am worried because pinkish discharge and increased abdominal pain can be symptoms of cervical cancer. I'm not due for my next smear until next year, and I've had normal ones for years. Does anyone else with the non hormonal IUD get this before their period?
