What should happen to a rapist if they don’t go to prison?

If a victim of rape/sexual assault or abuse spoke out about what happened to them, but they didn’t get jail time for whatever reason (not enough evidence, etc), should society do anything about it? Is it okay for them to get fired from their job or expelled from school? Is it fair for people to ‘take it into their own hands’ since there wasn’t any real justice? Would physically hurting him, or mentally hurting him be justified?
Or should society treat them as though they are completely innocent, because the law sees it that way? Could it be too dangerous to take it into our own hands, just incase he actually is innocent?

Less than 7% of rape/sexual assault allegations are false (some studies show the number may actually be less than 1%) 
Out of every 1000 rapes/sexual assault reports, only 3 rapists will ever spend any time in prison.
We as a society can change that by ending rape culture. Stop telling rape jokes, stop putting the burden of proof on the victim, stop victim shaming and blaming, and help offer a safe environment where victims feel like they can report what happened to them without fear of retribution. We can vote for laws that help make it easier for victims to speak up and harder for rapists to get away from justice. We can pressure our government to pass these laws. 
Other than that, unfortunately there’s nothing we can do about a rapist who goes free, other than believe the victim and offer a safe place for them.

If they are proven innocent by the law who are we to decide any differently. Who says they actually committed the crime?

I don't condone vigilantism and taking it into your own hands. I'm not going to go into all that again. I've written paragraphs about it on the other very similar posts below about how criminals should be punished. Yes sometimes the courts and justice systems fail, and that needs to change, but vigilantes will only cause worse problems for society.

If they've been found innocent by a court of law then they are 'innocent' regardless of whether they really are. I refuse to be judge, juror, and executioner to a person. I might be cautious around them if I found out they were charged with some heinous crime but it's not my place to assume guilt when they've been found innocent.

I feel like people should be cautious of that person. Taking it into your own hands isn’t the answer in my opinion, that could just cause so many more problems. At the end of the day there really isn’t much you can do if they were found innocent. Which seriously sucks if they’re not. I know especially in the US our justice system is total garbage and I really do feel for victims who’s abusers walk free. I can’t imagine that feeling.

Naw society shouldn’t treat them like they’re innocent, because they’re more than likely not lol I support vigilantism half the time, but if the person really turns out to be innocent then that could get totally messy. There really isn’t a sure-fire solution to this problem since people are gonna be people and people suck. People are unreliable most of the time. Even when there’s proof, that doesn’t mean people will believe you because they don’t want to believe you in the first place.

When I was raped I had no evidence. The trauma of reporting it wasn’t worth it, out of fear of his reaction and what everyone would say. There was no point in going to court to have it thrown out or him found innocent. It was he said she said. He wouldn’t have been ostracised from society, but I would have been. I would have been shunned. Rapists should be charged. They should go to jail. But it’s not cut and dry and there’s lots of fuzzy lines when it comes to pressing charges. If anyone I knew had accusations made about them I’d cut them out in a SECOND. False accusations account for a tiny minority of all rape reports. There’s no excuse to excuse rapists and they should not get off Scott free

If they aren’t convicted then they shouldn’t have action taken against them. As much hate as I may receive from this, it isn’t our job as regular citizens to take the law into our own hand, unless our life is being threatened. While if they have a high powered job they will more than likely be fired or have to resign, I don’t think it should be an unspoken requirement or a law requirement because ultimately if you weren’t there you don’t know what happened. Plus I know karma is a very real thing and everyone gets what they have coming to them, as much as that angers some people because they want immediate gratification, if the non-convicted really did do whatever horrible thing they are being accused of, well like I said karma is real.
