Do you let your one year old watch tv?

I turn on Daniel tiger or Sesame Street for my son in the morning, while he eats breakfast. It give me time to get stuff done. 
I feel such tremendous mom guilt for it though. 
Do you let your child watch tv?

I voted yes, because we usually have ours on but he doesn’t watch it. I wish he did so I could get a few minutes to do something.

I said yes but I try to keep screen time limited after reading couple of things. Apparently, there are two major “possible harm” of tv. 1) No eye contact or interaction is not good for baby brain. Babies learn better from actual experience. 2) And I think the real problem: Causes attention problems. Images flow so fast and constantly changing on screen to keep watcher’s attention so it causes brain to lose its ability to keep focused on a fixed object/image etc for longer periods. So your attention span gets shorter . You can actually observe this effect in yourself too if you are using Instagram, Twitter or watching too much tv (like I do🤦🏻‍♀️) lately. More and more it became impossible to focus on a puzzle or read a book or even sustain a conversation for a certain period of time for me. I observe it with too many people around me too especially after the excessive use of social media. You keep switching from story to story for hours...Your brain craves for the constant movement of topics, pictures which I call “the jump”. 
But like you said when it gets impossible to get things done at home I gave in for a 20 min Little Baby Bum or Word Party on Netflix too😞. I try not to let her watch commercials cause they have the most fast pacing imagery and they constantly dictate consuming which is another discussion.

I hit yes- but I didn’t let her watch any tv until she was past 12 months old, and when she’s watching tv I make sure it’s something educational, like Sesame Street.

No TV anymore as she started showing signs of getting addicted to it and games.. whenever she whines for it I will read to her.

My son loves tv but he doesn’t watch shows or movies...only random YouTube songs and it’s annoying because he wants me to change it constantly when he gets sick of the song. Probably not good because that is definitely creating attention problems hha!

I try to limit her screen time to an hour MAX a day. She will only sit a watch daniel tiger for like 30 mins at a time.

There are a few movies he will actually sit and watch. Also if I sit down to watch tv he lays on me and rubs my arm or neck. I felt guilty at first but then I realized I can fold all my laundry & put it up. Plus! If I put a movie on he likes in the morning I can take a 30 minute shower!!

My son doesn't care for TV. But he loves to watch his music videos from Super Simple songs. That's his TV.

I don’t let my daughter watch tv all day but 99% of us grew up with the tv on and we made it out ok. No mom guilt here😆

I don’t feel guilty about it at all. I let her watch educational shows like Super Why and believe it or not.. she loves Teletubbies. I notice now that we’ve started watching SuperWhy,she tries to say the alphabet along with the show...so it’s definitely doing what it’s supposed to do.
