Words

Hi moms! So my husband thinks I’m crazy but I’m a little concerned about my daughter and the amount of words she says. She’s 15 months old and she says bye, baby and sometimes mama and daddy. I say words to her and she never repeats them. Anybody else has/had a “quiet” toddler??

Same here, my son doesn’t say many words but he isn’t quiet, he talks a lot in his baby language 😄 he refuses to repeat words I say though 🤦‍♀️

Same here. He understands a lot, but says about 5-7 words. He is not quite, he speaks his own “language” lol. I also read and speak two languages to him. In the morning, he gets a story in one language, in the evening- he gets a story in another. Our pediatrician said that this is a normal amount of words they usually speak by this age. I try to concentrate on his physical side of development. Climbing, walking, running, stacking toys, picking matching pieces, etc.

Same here. She is very quiet but I'm not too worried because she understands a lot. Her teacher reassures me alot that her speaking will come a little later because she is learning Spanish and English.

I will try that even though my husband doesn’t speak it. Thank you for your advice!

My daughter is 16 months and goes to daycare but since they speak English to her there and at home we speak Spanish it gets confusing but they work with her a lot to be able to understand both languages. I would recommend that if you can speak only Spanish to her that would be better because English she can learn in school.

She also doesn’t go to school yet so she’s always with me. I feel like that has a lot to do with it

Totally normal!! Don’t worry. Doctor says there’s nothing to worry about until age 3.

I would love to take my son to your doctor. His pediatrician wants him to be reading books back to me & writing. I’m like that’s not reasonable!

My son rarely says anything besides “baba” but he understands a lot and his doctor said there’s really nothing to worry about until they’re two if there’s no progression.

My daughter only says a handful but understand quiet a few. She’s always babbling, just doesn’t say the right words with things yet.

Our daughter only says Mama, baba, dada, and yay. We just had her check up and he said that she clearly understands A LOT of different things but is just taking her time saying the actually words and to not worry. All kids develop at different stages… I still worry but I’m confident my kid will be okay. I bet yours will be okay too :)
