Reading books? Etc....

Question

How many of your baby’s actually sit there and listen? My son refuses to sit still no matter what time of day it is? When I do read he gets mad and tries to throw the book? Be honest? Does your baby really enjoy story time??

My daughter really loves books and wants us to read her entire library on daily basis. She keeps saying: agai agai 😂 when we finish one book to keep going. Both me and my husband memorized all of her books already. We order couple new books every month and she is sooo happy when she gets them. We started reading her very early on and after 8th months old she developed a huge interest in them. She even has a certain way of sitting on our lap that she enjoys most while we read. She does it with anyone who comes to visit our home and people love it 😊 Here is a picture of her reading😂😂

Yes she enjoys reading we’ve made a game out of her turning the pages when it’s time. Maybe try simple books that only have one to two phrases/sentences per page and praise your lo excessively when they turn the page on time?? Idk just drawing at straws here

My son actually loves books to the point he’ll have me read to him for over an hour multiple times a day. We have a basket of books he picks through and will hand me the ones he wants me to read to him. Sometimes we’ll read the same book over and over. He likes me to ask him where objects or animals are and he’ll point to them. It’s shocking how much he knows. He actually doesn’t play with his toys much so I’ll have to encourage him to play with them otherwise he’s in my lap with a book... As much as I love that he likes books and is learning so much from them, mamma needs a break! I wish he’d play more by himself but he prefers his books.
I think all kids are different though and have different interest. I don’t think one thing is better than the other they develop and learn so much through play alone in my opinion. He may gravitate to books eventually. I wouldn’t worry too much about it.

My son enjoys books that rhyme like llama llama red pajama or the little blue truck. Others that just have a line or two that don’t rhyme he could care less for it.

Depends on the night but most nights he gets a book. I have to be over the top enthusiastic with it though. He prefers the learning books to the actual stories though. His favorite is a 100 first words book. It’s a flap book and he loves pulling each flap down and pointing. Maybe try one like that! They just have to be entertained!

Our daughter LOVES story time!👌🏾 In fact, she ALWAYS have! We read to her twice a day, sometimes more! I read to her every morning and my husband reads to her every night. Sometimes during the day, she will tell me "Please read story." Lol. So I'll have to go upstairs to her nursery and get a book to read to her. We're going to put a bookshelf in her playroom and put some books on it because it's no fun walking up and down those stairs during the day lol. Our daughter enjoys story time and always seems so interested. I hope she does not grow out of it.👍🏾

She does only at bedtime. Once in a blue moon she’ll bring me a book to read during the day. If it’s too long she gets up and starts to play

He rather likes to grab the book I hold and flip pages, point things. He doesn’t sit still. The books that I read and am not afraid for him to touch, flip, throw, get food over them are the hard bounded books specifically for kids ( his favorite is book of “colors” and “things that go”). 
In the morning, while he eats breakfast, I will read him a quick story from a thin paper book. The only time he will actually sit and listen. And throughout a day, I read my own books aloud.
