Help! Anyone live in Arizona?

I'm planning a trip to Arizona. Is Phoenix a good place to visit? It looks pretty far from the Grand Canyon and I'm not sure if it's worth the drive 🤔
Anything else you'd recommend seeing?

There's nothing there. The zoo is cool if you're into that. But that's about it. Its just a regular town.

I hate cities and literally broke down crying driving through their traffic. 
The pollution had me sick the whole week I was there. 
A couple hours after we left an apartment building (visiting his friends) there was a shooting there and bullets went through the walls of the apartment we were in earlier. 
We heard police sirens all night long. And we were in the upper- middle class part of town(I'm told). 
There were traffic corners where sewage was backed up and the entire corner just stunk like that. (my ex said it was like that when he was a teen too. So the city didn't take care of it... Just left it for years and years.🤢)
Needles and condoms and garbage were in ditches and parking lots and sidewalks. 
We did normal city stuff that you can do in any other city. Movies, go carts, dinner.... 
The only thing I'd suggest seeing is the zoo. The rest of it was pointless chaos.
Sedona, on the other hand was beautiful... And pretty much all parts of Arizona that's not Phoenix.

I live in Scottsdale and LOVE it! The weather is so nice as long as you don’t come between late May - August. I personally don’t ever go to Phoenix though. Sedona is absolutely beautiful and just a short 1 - 1.5 hour drive and then the Grand Canyon is a short drive from there. If you have kids there’s the zoo, butterfly museum, aquarium, etc to visit. If you come in March or April the weather is always ridiculously nice. So many resorts and you can get a cheap day pass to go lounge by the pool and use their facilities. There really is so much to do. I can’t speak specifically for Phoenix but Scottsdale is awesome and just 20 - 30 minutes from Phoenix.

There isn't much to do in phoenix. But Sedona is beautiful and definitely worth checking out .
There is also bearizona and out of Africa that I think are worth going to
