I was so nervous to move I didnt feel anything! I do remember only one side of my lower half numbing and I panicked cause I didnt want to feel half of my vagima tearing 😂 the nurses had me reposition to get the effect on both sides

The epidural didn’t hurt, it was staying still during contractions that was awful! You’re not able to move at all which is near impossible during strong contractions 😭

The numbing shot stings but only for a few seconds. The epidural going in just feels like someone is pushing hard on your back.

I've had 3 epidurals. Honestly it's depends on how good the doctor is. My first two took several tries to get in and they kept hitting nerves or getting it placed wrong. Second one I got a spinal headache after which hurts more than the epidural. My third was easy and they got it in on the first try.

It's not really a shot...... if I remember correctly.
I had one 5 years ago when I had my first. They use a larger needed to enter your back and leave a plastic tube inside you that administers the medication. 
It feels super weird when they remove the tubing after delivery. 
I honestly don't remember if they numb your first or not. I just remember being told to stay extremely still and lean on my spouse or nurse for support and stabilization.
