Zofran...thoughts? I've read some scary things online but I'm desperate. My doc says it's safe.

So I talked to my doctor about this. The studies that were done that showed it “caused birth defects” didn’t actually show that. One study showed a tiny increase in the correlation between cleft palate and a few other things - but the increase was like from 0.1% which is baseline to 0.2%. This is generally considered within the margin of error. 
For another thing, it wasn’t a whole bunch of studies showing some massive increase in birth defects incidents. It was one study, and several more found that it didn’t cause birth defects.

I’m on it, and it’s the only thing getting me through my day. My doctor said his wife (who is also a doctor) took it as well so I feel pretty confident that I’m making the right choice. 
22 weeks and everything is 100% good. If you’re suffering please don’t feel bad about taking it.

Your doctor became a doctor to help people. They aren't going to give you something they think will harm you or your baby. If you are ever worried, if they are female, ask if they would take it if they were pregnant. If they are male, ask if they would be ok with their pregnant wife taking it. Hell, double check with a pharmacist! Their job is to safeguard and make sure doctors don't accidentally prescribe the wrong thing.

I’ve been taking Zofran for about 3 months now and it’s saved my life. At the rate I was going I was going to end up under 100 pounds pregnant due to sickness. Also our little baby is perfectly healthy with no defects as far as we know from ultrasounds!

I tool it in the beginning. it helped. but my doc put me on reglan and its a bit different but still helps. I probably would stick with reglan because of all the zofran news. I'm 37 weeks now and STILL take reglan.

On the paperwork from the dr. At the hospital it said it was not recommended for pregnant women. He gave it to me anyways, I was so sick I didn’t read it until the next am. I guess it would be up to you, he told me they where just starting to give it to pregnant women.
