How do you do respond to the person who asks you on a date, “do you want to split?”

There is nothing going wrong with going Dutch on a date, but if one person makes lavish plans and invites the other I feel they would be obligated to pay

I’m traditional and think if the man asks then he should pay. 🤷‍♀️ I am married now, but when I was dating I made sure to have my money with me, just in case my date wanted to go Dutch. I had more of the mentality that I expected the guy to pay and was very attracted to that traditional chivalry, but would have my own money in case we weren’t on the same page and I needed to pay for myself. I never had it happen, but if it did, I would have paid my portion but probably not have given him another date. And if he asked I would just politely tell him that if I asked him on the date that I would have paid and vice versa and that I valued a more traditional approach to dating. I don’t think there is anything wrong with it. 🤷‍♀️ everyone is entitled to their own opinions and wants and if yours doesn’t match his then it’s a bullet dodged in my book. 😂 Like if a person was more attracted to people that split the bill- then they’d probably be better off with someone who shares that mentality. Not saying that opposites can’t attract and work out, but it just depends.

I always offer to pay half. Now that my bf and I have been together for 5 years, sometimes he pays sometimes I do. Whoever pays, the other gets the tip. Our money is each other’s money anyways lol it doesn’t matter to us.

I always go Dutch on the first date so that way if it's a bust, we're only negative what we got for ourselves so no major loss

Ehh I am Hispanic. I have never dated a single guy that would ask me that. I tried to pay a few times for my hubby and he politely asked me to knock it off.  
I love the traditional style of dating 🤷🏼‍♀️

If I ask you on a date I pay. If you ask me on a date you pay. If we are on what I think is a date (that you asked for), then you ask to split... it’s not a date to me anymore.

I usually assume if you ask me to go to the location you’re paying but I’ll always bring enough to cover my own bill. Now once I’m in an established relationship we usually go back and forth on who pays for dates. But for a first date if they ask that question I can already assume they don’t want to pay for both of us or they just would have. So I’d cover my half unless I was the one who asked them out then I’d just pay the whole bill.
